gas-plasma display

  • A flat display which utilizes a matrix of small tubes, each containing a gas. Each tube represents a pixel, and when powered, the gas ionizes to produce a glow. Depending on the contained gas, the glow discharge may be red, green, or blue. Used, for instance, for large-screen and digital TV. Also called gas-discharge display (2), gas-plasma monitor, or plasma display.
