  • in the Australian system of specifying a wine’s origin, a zone, region or subregion from which at least 85 per cent of the grapes used in the wine’s production must derive. The structure of Geographic Indication was introduced in December 1993 to meet export requirements for the European Union and the US It is administered by the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation (AWBC).
