- A large (5 kg) wheel-shaped semi-hard mild and creamy cows’ milk cheese with a small number of irregular holes and a wax coating made in the same way as Edam. If matured for a year its colour darkens and the flavour becomes strong and piquant. Small Gouda cheeses are also supplied. Suitable for slicing and cooking. Very popular as a part of Dutch breakfast.
