Hall coefficient

Definitions

Electronics

  • A constant of proportionality utilized when performing calculations associated with the Hall effect. When calculating the strength of the electric field, EH, the following formula may be utilized: EH = RHJB, where RH is the Hall coefficient, J is the current density, and B is the magnetic flux density. The sign of the Hall coefficient changes with the sign of the charge carrier, so it serves to indicate the sign of the majority carrier. Also called Hall constant.
