  • A phenomenon observed when strip or bar of a conductor, or of certain semiconductors, is placed perpendicular to a magnetic field. When said strip or bar is longitudinally carrying a current, an electric field is developed across it. The electric field is perpendicular to both the flow of current and the magnetic field.
