  • A computer whose components are all worn by a user. For example, a head-mounted device which incorporates a head-mounted display, a microphone and earphones for the input and output of data, and all other needed components such as the CPU, RAM, and disk drive. A wearable computer is well-suited, for instance, for the realtime analysis of data by scientists working under field conditions, rural doctors, people conducting business on the go, or to assist those with special needs, such as individuals with reduced vision or motor function. Also called wearable computer.
