  • A printed, or otherwise permanent output of a device such as a printer, or that which incorporates a printing function, such as a fax or oscillograph. When used in the context of computers, this contrasts with soft copy, which is data displayed on a screen, or stored. Also spelled hardcopy. Also called printout.
