Health Benefit Group

Health Economics

  • Health benefit groups (HBGs) are standard groupings of people who are expected to need similar health care interventions and to derive similar benefits from their treatment. HBGs focus on those at risk from a particular health condition or disease and on people with acute or continuing long-term needs. They are developed to complement healthcare resource groups (HRGs) in the National Health Service (NHS) in England. The objective is to provide the NHS with a standardized presentation of relative needs for health care resources.
