heavy concrete

Definition

Construction

  • High-density concrete. Concrete having a high unit weight up to 300 pounds per cubic foot, primarily due to the types of aggregate employed and the density of their ultimate incorporation. Such diverse materials as trap rock, barite, magnetite, steel nuts, and bolts can be used as aggregate. The density makes heavy concrete especially suitable for protection from radiation.
