  • An antenna whose radiator is in the shape of a helix, and whose axis is perpendicular to a reflecting plane. Such an antenna produces a narrow beam of circularly-polarized waves which can rotate in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Usually used at ultra-high and microwave frequencies, such as those utilized by satellites. Also called helix antenna, or spiral antenna.
