Henry Straker

  • The chauffeur of John Tanner in the play Man and Superman(1903) by George Bernard Shaw. Straker is intended to represent the'New Man' of the technical revolution. Skilled, confident, and a scientificsocialist, he is superior in all practical respects to his master, whose gentlemanly class, Shaw believed, was doomed to extinction bythe new economic and political forces embodied by Straker.
