hybrid SACD

Definition

Electronics

  • An SACD player that reproduces SACD discs in addition to standard CDs. A hybrid SACD disc has two layers, with the CD layer located beneath the SACD layer. The SACD layer is transparent to a CD laser, thus can be played in a standard CD player, while a SACD player does not pick up the CD layer, providing for mutual compatibility. Also called SACD hybrid.
