Economics

  • noun a geometric form produced when a cone is cut by a plane. Mathematically it is the path traced by a point moving from a fixed focus where the ratio of the distance from the focus and a straight line is a constant.

  • A two-part conic section in which a plane intersects with a double cone. The plane is parallel to the axis of the double cone, and all points of its two branches have a constant difference in distance from two fixed points, called focuses.
