  • A serial interface standard which provides for transfer speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to over 2 Gbps, and allows the connection of up to 63 devices. It also supports hot swapping, and isochronous data transfer. Used, for example, for real-time transfers of video. FireWire, for instance, implements this standard. Also called IEEE 1394 standard.
