  • The purple-black fruit of an ancient pine, Podocarpus elatus, grape-sized and semi-sweet with the seeds, which are easily broken off, growing on the outside. They have a rich flavour with a slightly resinous quality and a refreshing aftertaste. The slight bitterness is intensified if cooked in aluminium. May be used as fresh fruit or in desserts and with meat.
