  • (IFTR) An international theater organization established in Londonin 1955 under the auspices of the British Society for Theatre Research.The Federation is dedicated to studying both traditional and contemporarytheater in participating countries, of which there are at present41: to this end it assists in the coordination of national researchorganizations and publishes a periodical. It also holds a world congressevery four years and organizes summer schools and other courses. TheFederation is based in Berne, Switzerland.
