ISDN

Definitions

Commerce

  • noun a digital telephone network that supports advanced communications services and can be used for high-speed data transmission.

Computing

  • noun a method of digital data transmission. It utilises the existing telephone network, but omits the digital/analog conversion required by conventional telephonic equipment; the customer therefore has a fully digital connection. ISDN connections usually provide two 64K bps channels, which can work independently or be combined to achieve transfer speeds of 128K bps.
