  • Research centre in Pasadena, California, managed by the University of California for NASA. Best-known as the centre from which NASA’s major space probes are operated after launch. JPL is a world centre for solar system science, especially that making use of space data, and for the computational and other skills needed to carry out space missions. It also carries out research in other areas – even jet propulsion.
