  • A bar, usually made of soft iron, utilized to join the magnetic poles of a magnet which is not in use. The keeper maintains the magnetic flux circulating continuously through the magnet, which delays demagnetization considerably. Used especially with horseshoe magnets. Also called magnet keeper.
