  • A slightly alcoholic and sour drink made originally from mare’s milk, now from cows’ milk and cultured with mixed microorganisms in the form of kefir grains. Contains 0.6 to 0.9 per cent lactic acid and 0.2 to 0.8 per cent alcohol. It is used to treat gastro-intestinal problems in Russia.
