Kundt tube

Definition

Electronics

  • A tube partially filled with dust or powder, which is utilized to measure the speed of sound. The dust or powder, such as that of cork, forms patterns based on sound vibrations, revealing nodes and antinodes, and these provide the length of the standing waves generated in the tube. With the frequency of the acoustic disturbance known, the obtained wavelength can then be utilized to calculate the speed of sound.
