L display

  • In radars, a display in which the scanned object appears as two horizontal blips, one extending to the right of a central vertical time base, the other to the left. When the radar antenna is pointed directly at the scanned object, both blips are of equal amplitude, while any difference in their relative amplitudes indicate the pointing error. The range is indicated by the position along the baseline. Also called L scan, L scanner, L scope, or L indicator.
