lamb’s lettuce

Definition

Food

  • A slow-growing hardy annual, Valerianella locusta, grown for its leaves which will stand the winter and are used in winter salads. The growing plant may be blanched to reduce the slight bitterness. There are two varieties, a floppy large-leaved version and a smaller, more hardy, upright type.
