Construction

  • A cylinder of lead placed inside a hole in a masonry, plaster, or concrete wall. A screw or nail driven into it will then be firmly held in place.
  • In stonemasonry, a piece of leadthat holds adjacent stones together. Grooves are cut in both rock surfaces to be joined, and molten lead is poured into it.
