Lecher wires

  • Two long insulated wires which are separated from each other by a short distance, with a shorting bar which slides along them. One side of the wires is connected to a source of radio frequency energy, and the location of the bar is manually varied so as to determine the positions of standing wave nodes. The distance between said nodes can be utilized to calculate wavelengths. Also called Lecher lines.
