  • The fruit of a tree, Macadamia ternifolia (with hard-shelled nuts) and M. integrifolia (with softer-shelled nuts), originally from Australia, developed in Hawaii and now grown worldwide. Rather like a large hazelnut with a very hard shell. Usually sold shelled. Use as hazelnuts.
