Manseng

Definition

Wine

  • a grape variety that is used for sweet white wines, particularly in the southwestern region of France. It has two clones: Gros Manseng and petit Manseng. Gros Manseng is often used for drier sweet wines; Petit Manseng has smaller berries than Gros Manseng and a thicker skin, giving the wines a stronger flavour. Neither type is widely grown.
