  • The bracket attached to an exterior lamp post that supports a light. A term applied to the third and highest level of achievement for a tradesman or mechanic, who by supervision, experience, and examination has earned a master's license attesting that he is a master of the trade and no longer requires supervision of his work, as is the case with the journeyman and apprentice levels.
