mechanical harvesting

Definition

Wine

  • the process of using a machine to automate picking the ripe grapes from the vine. Traditionally harvesting was, and in many vineyards is still, done by hand, cutting off the bunches of grapes, but this is slow, hard work. If the vines are trained so that the fruit hangs freely below the canopy, a machine can be used to cut off the bunches.
