  • A switch in which the contacts are sealed in a capsule containing a pool of mercury. When the tube is tilted in one direction, the mercury comes in contact with both electrodes, thus closing the circuit. When tilted the other way, the contacts are exposed to open said circuit. Also called mercury tilt switch.
