  • A digital magnetic storage medium, which is in the form of a rotating plastic plate which is flexible. Information is encoded by altering the magnetic polarity of minute portions of the coated surface of such a disk. Microfloppies are much slower than hard disks, generally hold 1.44 megabytes of data, and their usual format is 3.5 inches, with a rigid case. Also spelled micro-floppy.
