mid-wicket

Cricket

  • noun a leg-side fielding position (or the player occupying it) between mid-on and square leg. Mid-wicket is normally about 20 to 30 yards out from the pitch at a point midway between the two wickets, but the position can also be modified to be ‘deep’ or ‘short’.
