• A speaker designed to reproduce frequencies in the middle part of the audible spectrum. This interval extends from about 300 Hz to somewhere in the range of 2000 to 5000 Hz, although these limits can vary. Such a speaker is responsible for the interval of frequencies humans are most sensitive to, and is usually utilized with other speaker units, such as woofers and tweeters, for reproduction across the full audio spectrum. Also called midrange driver, midrange speaker, or midrange loudspeaker.
