  • an appellation in the Languedoc-Roussillon region in the south of France that produces good, inexpensive red wines from Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah grapes. As with other wine-growing areas of southern France, a great deal of effort and investment is being put into improving quality with the planting of better grape varieties and the upgrading of equipment and techniques.
