- A round seawater fish, Lophius piscatorius, with a large ugly head and very fine-tasting white tail flesh often used as a substitute for scampi. The whole tail can be roasted like a leg of lamb. The fish can grow up to 2 m in length and 30 kg, but is usually sold smaller. It is found in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
