moutons. Revenons à nos moutons

  • (French: Let us come back to our sheep) A phrase used to mean "Let'sreturn to the subject". It is taken from the 14th century French comedyLa farce de Maître Pathelin, in which a woollen draper accuses a shepherd of ill-treating his sheep. In telling his story he continually wanders off the subject and the judge has to pull him up repeatedly with "Mais, mon ami, revenons à nos moutons."
