multiscan monitor

  • A monitor which accepts video signals from frequencies within a wide interval, automatically adapting itself to the signal frequency of the graphics card it is connected to. Such a monitor may support video standards ranging from monochrome to Super VGA. This contrasts with a fixed-frequency monitor, which only responds to a video signal within a single frequency range, and with a multi-frequency monitor, which supports a fixed number of frequency ranges. Also spelled multi-scan monitor. Also called multiscanning monitor, or multiscan display.
