- 10-9 volt/meter. A measure of the intensity of the signal of a radio transmitter. It may be calculated, for instance, by dividing the intensity in nanovolts at the receiving antenna, by the height of said receiving antenna. It is also used as a measure of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by microwave ovens, computer displays, celestial bodies, and so on. Its abbreviation is nV/m.
