near-end crosstalk

  • Crosstalk which is propagated between circuits in which the interfering signal travels in the direction opposite that of the desired signal. The terminal where near-end crosstalk is observed is usually near or at its origination point. This contrasts with far-end crosstalk, where each signal travels in the same direction, and is usually observed at a point distant from the where it originates. Its abbreviation is NEXT.
