  • The power of a desired signal that is equivalent to the noise level present. That is, it is the signal level required to obtain a signal-to-noise ratio of unity. For instance, the radiant power that produces a signal-to-noise ratio of unity, for a given bandwidth. Its abbreviation is NEP.
