Wine

  • a state with a long tradition of growing grapes for quality wines. By 1859, Ohio had become the leading wine producing state in the US But by the late 1860s, disease and the Civil War had wiped out grape production. By the turn of the century it was again flourishing, but then Prohibition virtually ended wine-making in the US Since the 1960s Ohio has made another comeback as one of the top 10 wine-producing states.
