ohms per square

  • A measure of the resistance between parallel edges of a thin film resistive material, such as a metal or semiconductor. The resistance of a four-sided material is defined as the resistance, in ohms, multiplied by its width, and divided by its length. Since the length and width of a square are equal, the measured resistance value will be the same for any size square. The resistance of such a material could then be stated in ohms, but in this context is expressed in units of ohms per square.
