  • A cable in which an oil, such as mineral oil, is contained at an approximately steady pressure. The presence of such an oil helps prevent voids in the cable's insulation and helps provide high voltage and power capacity to maximize transmission economy, in addition to being better-suited to self monitoring. Also called oil-immersed cable.
