  • In a bipolar transistor, a configuration in which the collector, or output, is left disconnected from the internal circuitry, and is available for external connection. In ICs, external connections are available from the collector of output transistors. Used, for instance, for high current or high voltage loads. Its abbreviation is OC. Also called open-collector configuration.
