outswing

Definition

Cricket

  • noun movement of the ball in the air, typically from a line around middle stump, away from the batsman so as to hit or pass just outside off stump; though more difficult to achieve than inswing, outswing is more likely to produce problems for the batsman, especially if the ball moves late
Citation ‘Inswing, of course, can be more easily smothered than outswing’ (Arlott 1983)
