  • noun a faulty or badly adjusted monitor in which the displayed image runs off the edge of the screen
  • noun display equipment in which the picture beam scans past the screen boundaries to ensure that the image fills the screen

Electronics

  • In a display, such as a CRT, the deflection of the scanning beam beyond the edges of the screen. This may result in the loss of images at the edges of the display. Also spelled over-scan. Also called overscanning.
