  • A famous Tudor bull-baiting and bear-baiting garden in Bankside, in the London borough of Southwark. It was established on the site of a house owned by Robert de Paris in the reign of Richard II. The Swan Theatre was erected on the site in about 1595 and this was replaced by the Hope Theatre in 1613.
