phenolic insulation

Definition

Construction

  • A rigid, closed cell foam insulation product made with phenolic plastics. No longer used in the roofing industry because when wet it will chemically attack steel decks. However, it has not posed problems when used over concrete or wood decks, or gypsum boards sealed with a vapor retarder.
