positive charge
Definitions
Electronics
- The charge, or a multiple of the charge, of a proton. Protons possess a positive charge which is equal in magnitude to the negative charge of an electron.
- The charge a material or entity acquires when it has a deficiency of electrons. For example, if a dielectric such as glass or amber is rubbed with a dissimilar dielectric such as silk or wool, and each is separated, glass or amber acquires a positive charge, while the silk or wool acquires a negative charge. Also called positive electrification, or positive electricity.
