  • A form of money that was used in a country before being replaced by a currency unit that could be broken down into 100 subunits. The most well known recent example of a pre-decimal currency was the British Pound Sterling before it was decimalized in 1971, although other historical examples existed in France, Denmark, Portugal, Spain and parts of Germany and India.
